Graph-Controlled Grammars as Language Acceptors
نویسنده
چکیده
In this paper, we study the concept of accepting grammars within various forms of regulated grammars like programmed grammars, matrix (set) grammars, grammars with regular (set) control, periodically time-variant grammars as variants of grammars controlled by bi-coloured digraphs. We focus on their descriptive capacity. In this way, we continue our studies of accepting grammars 1, 2, 3, 11, 13, 14, 15]. Periodically time-variant grammars yield the rst example of a non-trivial equivalence of generating and accepting mode in the absence of appearance checkings. Refining the Nonterminal Complexity of Graph-controlled Grammars
We refine the classical notion of the nonterminal complexity of graph-controlled grammars, programmed grammars, and matrix grammars by also counting, in addition, the number of nonterminal symbols that are actually used in the appearance checking mode. We prove that every recursively enumerable language can be generated by a graph-controlled grammar with only two nonterminal symbols when both s...
متن کاملEmptiness Problems of eNCE Graph Languages
We consider the complexity of the emptiness problem for various classes of graph languages deened by eNCE (edge label neighborhood controlled embedding) graph grammars. In particular, we show that the emptiness problem is undecidable for general eNCE graph grammars, DEXPTIME-complete for connuent and boundary eNCE graph grammars, PSPACE-complete for linear eNCE graph grammars, NL-complete for d...

eNCE (edge label neighborhood controlled) graph grammars belong to the most powerful graph rewriting systems with single-node graphs on the left-hand side of the productions. From an algorithmic point of view, connuent and boundary eNCE graph grammars are the most interesting subclasses of eNCE graph grammars. In connuent eNCE graph grammars, the order in which nonterminal nodes are substituted...
متن کاملNon-Confluent NLC Graph Grammar Inference by Compressing Disjoint Subgraphs
Grammar inference deals with determining (preferable simple) models/grammars consistent with a set of observations. There is a large body of research on grammar inference within the theory of formal languages. However, there is surprisingly little known on grammar inference for graph grammars. In this paper we take a further step in this direction and work within the framework of node label con...
متن کاملNCE Graph Grammars and Clique-Width
Graph grammars are widely used in order to deene classes of graphs having some inductive and narrow structure. In many cases the narrowness can be measured in terms of the maximal tree-width and/or clique-width of the graphs in the class, (see RS86],,CO00] for deenitions of these notions). It is known that using the corresponding tree-decomposition or clique-width parse term, any property of th...
